Since 1989, Haifa has absorbed 43,000 native Amharic- and Russian-speaking newcomers. The immigrants and their children have benefited from HAIFA FOUNDATION sponsored educational, cultural, social and coexistence programs that reach them through neighborhood-based community centers, schools, and daycare centers for at-risk children and the elderly. Our most recent achievement is the Emerich Ressler Memorial Youth Center, Kiryat Chaim. Currently, the HAIFA FOUNDATION seeks pilot funding for an Urban Educators Kibbutz in the Hadar neighborhood on behalf of 800 vulnerable immigrant youngsters.
