ARIEL SOUP KITCHEN

The Ariel Soup Kitchen (est. 2002) serves hot, full-course lunches to sixty people Sunday through Thursday between 11 AM and 2 PM.   Approximately 30 people eat at the Soup Kitchen and another 30, among them disabled individuals, have their meals delivered directly to their homes. Moreover, every Thursday, participants take home with them or have delivered to their homes double portions meant for Friday and Saturday and, in addition, sweets and other Sabbath treats. Ninety per cent of the beneficiaries are immigrants to Israel from the former Soviet Union, ages 70-80 and above, who depend on the Soup Kitchen for their one hot meal of the day. The Ariel Soup Kitchen has the potential to feed approximately 150 needy seniors daily (80 on site and another 70 home deliveries) – i.e., more than double the number of people that it is currently reaching, were additional funds to become available.
