The Rosh Maya site is one of the most important archaeological sites in Haifa; it is situated in the heart of the Romema neighbourhood and is a public open space for the residents. We would like to conserve and restore it, make it available to the public for both educational and recreational purposes.

The various remains scattered in and around the site represent various periods in the life of the place. The fortress is one of the main finds at the Rosh Maya site. The site is located on an elevated hill that in the past controlled a traffic route, a natural passage from the Lower Galilee and Haifa Bay (Acre) to the Carmel Coast via the Rushmiah-Vardia and other streams. Hence the importance of the hill as a fortified settlement. From the fortress, one has a view of the city, the Nachal Gibborim basin, and the Haifa Bay as far as the city of Acre.

The program includes conservation of the fortress, improving safety and visual appearance and creating proper access to the site. On this site, an addition of a park and suitable facilities are planned for the general public.
