Urban Renewal & Beautification | Yeshiva Chassidei Gur Courtyard |

Yeshiva Chassidei Gur follows a fixed
daily schedule from 6AM – 10:30 PM that
includes study, prayers, meals, and periodic
study breaks over tea and coffee.
Teacher-student relations are based on an
									ethical and moral dialogue. Methodology
									includes classroom teaching, pair learning,
									tutoring and group discussions.  The
youngsters spend 3 out of every 4 weekends
at the school, celebrating Shabbat with
their fellow pupils, and every 4th Shabbat
									at home with their families.
The pupils of Yeshiva Chassidei Gur are
taught to value holiness, purity and
modesty, to behave with respect and
generosity towards others, and to cope with
									the evil inclination. Kollel participants
are encouraged to carry these values into
their married and professional lives. These
values are evident in the excellent
									relations between Haifa's Gerrer Chassidim
and their neighbors: secular and Haredi
Jews, Christian and Muslim Arabs, and
									Russian-speaking new immigrants.
Like all children, and especially those
at boarding schools, the yeshiva's 100
pupils feel the need for a quiet corner that
they can call their own. The school's
principal, Rabbi Shlomo Atlas, describes his
wish to provide his pupils with "a pastoral,
calm and inviting outdoor area in a homelike
									atmosphere conducive to expanded thought."
He envisions developing a modest, landscaped
garden setting that will facilitate interior
dialogue, the exchange of ideas with friends
and study partners, and the working out of
									difficult intellectual challenges and
									adolescent emotional crises, and will
									provide "therapy for [the youngsters']
souls."  He adds that a garden will
also provide the pupils with an appropriate
setting for praising God through prayer,
song and the recital of Psalms.
